'Reign' Season 3 Spoilers: Mourning and Marrying for Mary

The upcoming episode of "Reign" season 3 will have Mary and Catherine trying to figure out what Prince Don Carlos is hiding.

After Francis' unfortunate death earlier in the season, more grieving and obstacles will be experienced by Mary, played by Adelaide Kane, as she tries to keep herself and the kingdom intact. Because of that, Mary has no choice but to remarry.

With that, guest star Mark Ghanime plays the character of Prince Don Carlos, who is Mary's first suitor. The previous episode showed Mary trying to make an alliance with Spain by marrying Don Carlos since Spain is the greatest power in Europe.

However, drama ensues when Mary and Catherine, played by Megan Follows, realized that the prince has a dark secret in hiding. Titled "The Horse and the Hare," the upcoming episode will see Mary and Catherine working together to uncover his secret.

Even with all the political agendas she has to keep in mind, it is evident that Mary will still be mourning the loss of her love. The executive producer of the series Laurie McCarthy recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Mary's emotional situation.

McCarthy explained, "I think she's going to recover because she will find her strength. It puts her in frankly a scrappier position because she's not just losing the love of her life, she's losing the alliance with France and what that foretells is that at some point, she's going to return to Scotland, she's going to lay claim to the throne that is actually her throne in the country that she was born to rule. And we're very well positioned for that to be coming down the line very much in the same way that this season we're expanding to the court of Elizabeth, to England. It's actually going to give her more stories and more challenges."

"Reign" season 3's midseason finale is expected to air on the CW on Dec. 4.
