Reno Festival with Luis Palau To Begin This Week
This week, a region-wide evangelistic outreach sponsored by over 106 churches and Christian Ministries across the Greater Sierra Nevada region will be held June 11-12 in conjunction with Luis Palau Evangelistic Association. Reno Festival with Luis Palau starts this week with a wave of publicity, television and radio interviews, special evangelistic luncheons, and ends with a powerful two-day festival.
“Envision the biggest party you’ve ever attended. Multiply attendance by 100 or even 1,000. Now add two full days of fun, awesome Christian bands, world-class skateboarding, and opportunities to see your family and friends come to Jesus Christ. That, my friend, is a Luis Palau Festival,” said LPEA spokesman Craig Chastain.
For more than a year now, thousands of people in Nevada have been preparing for the Reno Festival. The festival, to be held at Washoe County Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, will include a variety of non-traditional outreach events geared specifically towards the younger generations. It will include performances by artists like Steven Curtis Chapman, Kirk Franklin, Mercy Me, tobyMac, Point of Grace, Jump 5, and Audio Adrenaline.

The Festival will also include an Extreme Sports Demo during which Christian skateboarders will demonstrate their skills on a massive skate park built on-site and give a little background about what gives them purpose in life. “Many young people are influenced each day by the ‘core-sports’ subculture. This will give an opportunity to reach out and impact these young people in a relevant and powerful way. Hear compelling testimonies from the pros,” said Chastain. Skate evangelists will give a “hard-hitting” Gospel presentation each day. Guest athletes will include Tim Byrne, Anthony Carney, Bruce Crisman, Jon Greer, Jude Heal, Vic Murphy, and Phil Trotter.
“The purpose of this festival is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people all over the Greater Sierra Nevada Region,” stated Chastain.
The Festival is free to the public and will offer translations in Spanish via FM radio, and sign language interpretation for the hearing impaired. The park will open at noon on June 11, and will end 10PM on June 12.
