'Resident Evil 7' News: Game Rumored to be Back in Raccoon City; Fans Anticipating Capcom Updates
Capcom's upcoming title "Resident Evil 7" continues to be talked about, with a new rumor sprouting up about the game's setting being in Raccoon City. However, Capcom has been silent and has kept fans waiting for a new update that hasn't come since October last year.
The developer-publisher has been kept busy with new game releases including the upcoming survival horror shooter "Umbrella Corps" and many pending HD remakes. This lineup of new games, especially those coming from the "Resident Evil" franchise, has only reinforced fans' desire and belief that a continuation of the main series is coming up, namely "Resident Evil 7."
The hype that surrounds the game has given rise to many rumors and theories, the most recent of which involves Raccoon City. According to a report by Christian Today, Capcom will bring players back to the streets of this small city in the Midwestern United States.
Fans have also been vocal about what they want the upcoming game to include. Among these include a suggestion from NSeaVoice of bringing back the villains of old "Resident Evil" titles to "spice up" the new game, specifically Nemesis and William Birkins, who could feature in surprise boss fights in their comeback, according to the publication. These two villains are notable for successfully bringing the "horror" in the horror, adventure game.
Needless to say, these have not been confirmed by Capcom and remain to be rumors and fan suggestions as of the moment. But there's a possibility these could be included in the game as Capcom has committed to listening to the core fans, as well as to critics of the franchise.
In an interview with MCV, former Capcom marketing boss Michael Pattison said, "We have obviously seen the consumer response and the PR response. There was some great positives out of that, but it was a mixed bag, as we saw from the review scores. We have got to take that on-board, we can't ignore that, and we have to take that onto the next game when we make the next Resident Evil … You'll find where we go next will likely be more targeted at our core fanbase."
Just where Capcom will bring players in the next installment to the "Resident Evil" franchise, whether it's back to the series' roots or otherwise, fans will have to continue to stay tuned. Until new updates about "Resident Evil 7" come out, fans can meanwhile turn their attention to the recently released "Resident Evil 0" or the currently being remade "Resident Evil 2."
