'Resident Evil: Final Chapter' Release Date News: Last Movie of the Series
If one of the film's stars Ali Larter is to believed, the upcoming installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise, titled "Resident Evil: Final Chapter" will really be the franchise's "final chapter." Larter during an interview was asked if the film was indeed the last one that will be made, she responded simply but firmly: "I know it is."
Larter is reportedly reprising her role as Claire Redfield, one of the original characters in the film series. She joins Mila Jovovich who will return as the lead character, Alice. The film series is based on an action horror video game by Capcom, also of the same title. It is one of the few successful film franchises that actually originated from a video game.
During the interview with IGN, she expressed her thanks to the film's creator, Paul W.S. Anderson for making her a part of the series. This will be her third time appearing in the film series.
"How many movies have this kind of fanbase and get to be made six times? I think that's extraordinary. It's a total testament to [series star] Milla [Jovovich] and Paul. I'm so grateful to them, that they chose me to be a part of it halfway through, and they've kept me along for the ride," she said. "I love that it's not seven men and one woman. I mean, these are two women, and they're not competing with each other. You know, there are such easy clichés these two could fall into, but this is definitely a female power movie."
Unfortunately, Larter could not say much about the movie's plot details, but she did say the film's screenplay was "amazing."
According to the IGN, the film will start production in September, in South Africa. Its release date is currently pegged on Jan. 27, 2017.
