Resident Evil News: Sequel Release Date Leaked, Details on Spinoff Revelations 2 Revealed

A listing for Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on Sony's Playstation Store appears to have leaked the game's release date.

According to Express.co, the game will be released on Feb. 17, 2015. The website also details how Capcom will publish the game in four parts, with one part released per week spread over a month. The game will then be compiled into one disc and sold with exclusive content.

Revelations 2 is a spinoff from the Resident Evil games and is not the sequel to the sixth installment of the game. According to Fangoria, the upcoming title takes place between Resident Evil 5 and 6, and this time, the game stars Moira, who is Claire Redfield and Barry Burton's daughter. The game is more team driven compared to the previous Resident Evil titles as players get to switch off between two characters to complete missions.

Though fans were thrilled to learn about the February launch date, Capcom released an official statement on their website to clarify that the date on the Playstation Store is not for the release of the game.

"Please note that the release date listed on the storefront is merely a placeholder! The true dates are still pending, but the episodes will drop weekly starting sometime in early 2015," the statement read.

For now, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is available for preorder in the U.S., which gives one access to all four episodes for $24.99. Those who preorder will receive the Raid Mode Throwback Stage Pack which lets one fight through maps from classic Resident Evil stages. The special offer is currently available only for the PS4, but is scheduled to be released for the PS3 soon.
