Rex Ryan Admits to Mistakes With Tim Tebow

Rex Ryan is ready to admit that he made some mistakes with Tim Tebow while the 25-year-old backup New York Jets QB is leaving his future with the team up to God.

Ryan, Jets head coach, recently spoke up about making the wrong decision to let Tebow suit up for a game against the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving with an injury to his ribs.

"Quite honestly, I let Tim talk me into activating him the week before, and I think that was something I regretted, and I wasn't going to let him talk his way into it this time," Ryan said Monday in an ESPN report.

Although Tebow was reportedly medically cleared to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, it was third-string QB Greg McElroy who took starter Mark Sanchez' place on the football field to rally the team to a 7-6 win. Now, it seems unclear whether Ryan will be returning Tebow to his position as the team's second option at QB.

"We'll have to monitor his situation as the week goes on," Ryan said. "I don't think he's near 100 percent."

However, Tebow said he felt like he was progressing in a recent conference call with reporters.

"I feel like I'm healing up, getting there," Tebow said as his Jets look to face the Jacksonville Jaguars next. "I think it's just a trainer-doctor-coach thing now."

When questioned about the possibility that he could become the third-string QB, Tebow was not willing to entertain the idea publicly just yet.

"I'm not getting into hypotheticals," Tebow told reporters. "I'm just trying to get healthy now. I'm trying to improve every single day, so I can be a full (participant) in practice."

It seems that his future with the Jets may not be clear for him either, but the Christian QB made sure to emphasize one of his favorite quotes saying, "I guess one of my favorite quotes is, 'You don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds my future.'"
