'Rick And Morty' Renewed For Season 3, To Add 'Dog World' Story Plot?
Good news for all the fans of the American adult animated series "Rick and Morty." The adventures of alcoholic scientist Rick Sanchez and his obedient grandson Morty will continue on as the show has been renewed for season 3. According to Venture Capital Post, network Adult Swim has confirmed the renewal.
However, it will not have a total of 19 episodes as what rumors have said. The show has been ordered with 10 episodes only in season 3, just like how it was with the previous seasons. Co-creator Justin Roiland denied rumors about the show having more than 10 episodes via his Twitter account.
With regards to the upcoming season's plot, iSchoolGuide reported that the show will not be dealing with time traveling anymore. It is said that Roiland and Dan Harmon, the show's creators, removed it from the storyline because, as they explained in the report, creating a time travel story is a complex work to finish.
"Time travel is a real shark-jumper. Once you introduce it to the canon of your show, it's just a dangerous toy to pull out," says Harmon.
So what will season 3 be all about? According to Master Herald, "Rick and Morty" season 3 will include parts of an earlier piece created by Roiland. The source cited that Roiland's 2012 unaired animatic TV series titled "Dog World" will be inserted into the "Rick and Morty" storyline, although there is no confirmation to this yet and Roiland and Harmon will still need to make the announcement if ever the rumor is true.
"Dog World" is about a boy named Peter Michaels who gets pulled into a wormhole with his brother Edmund and younger sister Sally while on a camping trip. They are brought to a whole new world inhabited by talking anamorphic dog people with animal-like humans as pets.
"Rick and Morty" season 3 is scheduled to return to the small screen on March 5, 2017
