'Rick and Morty' Season 3 New Episodes: Surprise Additional Episodes Coming After Finale?

"Rick and Morty" season 3 aired its final episode last Sunday, Oct. 1 on Adult Swim. Speculations, however, swirl that there are still more surprise additional episodes coming.

A fan on Reddit insisted that more episodes of "Rick and Morty" season 3 will still get airtime without any advance notice from the network. The show's creators, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, sprung surprise airings before and it's likely they could pull another fast one.

Viewers did not know that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere on April 1. Many thought the creators pulled an April Fools prank but the episode continued to stream days after and succeeding episodes of "Rick and Morty" season 3 did not arrive until July.

Fans are also convinced that "Rick and Morty" season 3 has a few unaired episodes based on Harmon's own statements. The writer and producer revealed during a 2016 Comic-Con interview that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will consist of 14 episodes.

Several months later, however, Harmon backtracked and categorically stated that season 3 will have 10 episodes only. But Harmon's statements on Entertainment Weekly have fans wondering if he's purposely being sheepish.

"You shouldn't trust me," Harmon told the publication. "Because I mostly blame myself for doing 10 instead of 14."

Meanwhile, whether there are remaining new episodes to "Rick and Morty" or not, the show is a recognized success among millennials. The animated series is a certified rating hit on Sunday nights. Nielsen determined that it's the most watched comedy among viewers ages 18 to 24.

Adult Swim has yet to make "Rick and Morty" season 4 official but the show is primed for a renewal given the ratings. Viewers, however, should not expect season 4 to air anytime soon as it took Harmon and Roiland at least two years to follow up season 2 with season 3.
