Righteousness Sought in Politics

The 2003 Conference of the Association of Christian Theologians (ACTS) - an umbrella organisation of heads and practising lecturers of christian universities and Bible colleges will hold today and tomorrow, at the International Press Centre, Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Lagos, under the distinguished chairmanship of Dr. Tunji Braithwaite.

Dr. Sam Egwu, Governor of Ebonyi State, is expected to be the guest speaker. Other key speakers include the President of the Eclectic Movement of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Moses Iloh.

The conference theme, 'Enthroning Righteousness in Politics', is considered timely in view of the corruption pervading Nigeria's political life. The conference will examine the problems of bad leadership and bad followership and profer the way forward.

According to ACTS President, Dr. Kunle Macaulay, the forthcoming conference is a follow-up to the recent national seminar organised by ACTS, with the theme, 'Sanitizing Theological Education in Nigeria.' He reiterated that sound theology is a key requisite for the enthronement of righteousness in Nigeria's political life, hence the urgent need to sanitise theological education in the country.

B/S Boss Honoured In Togo he West African Nobles Forum, recently, honoured the Chairman, British International School (BIS) and Leisure Plaza, Victoria Island, Lagos, Chief Tunde Fanimokun, with the prestigious Nobles International Award, at Lome, Togo.

Chief Fanimokun, who also led a delegation of BIS officials on an official visit to the renowned British School of Lome, was honoured by the West Africa Nobles Forum at the Nobles International Award Night and Lecture held at the Palm Beach Hotel, Lome, Togo.

The Nobles award organised by Intra-West Africa Communications Limited, publishers of West Africa International Magazine, was established in 1996, to project the positive side of the West African sub-region in view of the negative stories by the western media.

Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Dr. Dee Otibu Asare, stated that the award was meant for West African indigenes who cherish integrity, transparency, probity and accountability in private and public life.

The special lecturer at the gathering was the wife of the Vice President of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Amina Titi Atiku Abubakar, Chairperson of Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF). The theme of her discourse was 'Child Labour and Human Trafficking Across the Borders of West Africa.' The lecture, which was delivered on her behalf by the Charge
