Rihanna, Chris Brown Assault Portrayed on 'Law & Order: SVU'? (VIDEO)
"Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" will reportedly feature a controversial storyline that appears to be "ripped from the headlines" in its upcoming "Funny Valentine" episode.
The popular NBC crime series will portray the story of a singer who was beaten by her hip-hop star boyfriend, a plot that is highly reminiscent of the infamous 2009 Chris Brown and Rihanna assault incident. The episode, which airs Feb. 27. features Actor Eugene Jones as the Chris Brown-like Caleb Bryant and actress Tiffany Robinson as Micha Charles.
The episode centers on domestic violence and the relationships between abusers and victims. Also featured is celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, musician Dave Navarro and talk show host Wendy Williams.
In 2009, Brown, 23, was arrested after assaulting Rihanna, 25, and leaving her seriously injured. The singer pleaded guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal of community labor, five years formal probation and domestic violence counseling.
Although the couple split up shortly after the assault, Rihanna recently confirmed that they have since reconciled despite receiving widespread backlash from the public. Photos of Rihanna's battered face went viral shortly after the assault and fans still condemn Brown despite the Bajan singer's ability to forgive him.
"I decided it was more important for me to be happy. I wasn't going to let anybody's opinion get in the way of that," Rihanna told editor Josh Eells of Rolling Stone magazine.
"Even if it's a mistake, it's my mistake. After being tormented for so many years, being angry and dark, I'd rather just live my truth and take the backlash. I can handle it," she continued.
The couple recently celebrated Rihanna's milestone birthday in Hawaii and the singer was spotted wearing a white gold ring on her wedding finger, which has fueled reports suggesting Brown may have popped the question.
Brown reportedly asked Rihanna's parents for permission to propose and he reportedly purchased the singer a 10 carat engagement ring allegedly worth an estimated $3.5 million, according to MediaTakeout.com.
