Rihanna and Chris Brown Dating Rumors: Riri Explains Relationship with Ex-Boyfriend
Rihanna's career has hit a decade mark this year. She's had a string of dance hits that most of her fans would probably still remember the lyrics. However, it would be safe to say that her career hasn't been the smoothest as just three years into her career, she was shrouded by controversy of her then boyfriend Chris Brown's assault on her. Rihanna was put under negative spotlight that only got worse when she reconciled with Brown after court hearings on the domestic violence.
Rihanna chose to be a little more private about the whole incident. However, as RiRi graces the cover of Vanity Fair for its November issue, she finally speaks up about the painful events that surrounded her life back then and what led to her decision to have the restraining order on Brown lifted. Rihanna took the chance to explain her decision as to why she gave her relationship with the "With You" singer another chance.
She shared, "I was that girl. That girl who felt that as much pain as this relationship is, maybe some people are built stronger than others. Maybe I'm one of those people built to handle s--- like this. Maybe I'm the person who's almost the guardian angel to this person, to be there when they're not strong enough, when they're not understanding the world, when they just need someone to encourage them in a positive way and say the right thing." It was a reconciliation that didn't last too long though, despite her attempts to make it work, Rihanna had come to the conclusion that the changes had to come from her. She told the magazine how "protective" she was of Brown despite how he treated her. "I felt that people didn't understand him. Even after ... But you know, you realize after a while that in that situation you're the enemy."
As of today, Rihanna has most definitely moved on. She goes on about the fact that although what has happened to her had already been years ago, it still is applicable to many lives right now as it is still an everyday situation that many women might be facing. As for her thoughts on Brown, she said, "I don't hate him. I will care about him until the day I die. We're not friends, but it's not like we're enemies. We don't have much of a relationship now."
