Rihanna Intervention Planned by Celebs? Mariah Carey Denies Involvement
Mariah Carey has denied reports that she invited Rihanna to move into her family home in a bid to help her get her life on track, weeks after rumors about an intervention began swirling.
The "American Idol" judge spoke through her representatives, who stated that "there is no truth" to a report from Star Magazine which quoted a source saying Carey was concerned about Rihanna's hard partying and her ties to Chris Brown, according to Gossip Cop.
Rihanna, 24, has been openly criticized by fans for her constant partying and new reports suggest that she and Brown, 23, rekindled their romance on a recent trip to France. These reports may have inspired Star's reports about Carey.
"Mariah has decided to swoop in and rescue the Barbadian beauty before she self-destructs!" a source was quoted as telling Star.
"[Mariah] was upset by rumors that Rihanna was reconnecting with Chris Brown," because in the past she "had a horrible marriage with Tommy Mottola and later endured a public breakdown. She sees a lot of herself in Rihanna and wants to protect her," the alleged source went on.
Carey, 42, is the latest Hollywood celebrity to be accused of staging an intervention against the Bajan singer. In May it was reported that Beyonce and Jay-Z became increasingly concerned about Rihanna's health after her stint in hospital, and weeks later it was rumored that Brown himself was worried about the singer's drinking which allegedly increased after her grandmother's death.
"Chris is worried. She's drinking alone in her room and s---. That's definitely not a good look for anybody- especially not for her," a source close to Brown told Hollywood Life. "[Brown] was like 'damn, that ain't good. I want her to be all right. That's my girl.'"
Rihanna recently took part in an exclusive tell-all interview with renowned talk show host Oprah Winfrey in which she will finally address these unfounded rumors once and for all. The interview airs Aug. 19 on the OWN network.
