Rihanna, Katy Perry Feud: Former BFFs Sat Apart at Grammys by Request
Katy Perry reportedly made requests to be seated far away from Rihanna at Sunday night's Grammy Awards amid claims that the pair has ended their once close-knit friendship over Chris Brown.
The 28-year-old singer, who arrived at the event with her new boyfriend John Mayer, 35, spent much of last year's Grammy awards with Rihanna, 24. However, they are reportedly no longer friends because the Bajan singer has officially reconciled with Brown, 23. Perry reportedly does not "approve" of the relationship, according to Us magazine.
"They aren't tight anymore because Katy doesn't approve of Rihanna dating Chris Brown," a source told Us adding that Perry's seating request was "Such a headache!"
Rihanna and Brown split up in 2009 following their infamous domestic assault incident and their reconciliation has angered many fans who refuse to forgive him for battering the singer's face.
"They're barely talking and ever since the couple reunited, there has been tension between them. Katy has been spending a lot of time with pals Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart," a source previously told The New York Daily News' Confidenti@l. "Katy fears Rihanna is making a huge mistake and doesn't want to be part of it."
Perry, who once considered Rihanna as her best friend and even referred to her as a "wise woman," was last seen publicly with the "We Found Love" singer at the 2012 MTV VMA awards Sept. 6 in Los Angeles.
Rihanna openly kissed Brown, who was seated in the audience, and Perry revealed that she did not speak to her after the incident.
"We've had dinner, and that's about it, I didn't reach out to her after the incident," Perry recently told MTV. "I think she is doing fine. I don't know. Her personal life has probably already been blown out of proportion. I don't really have to go into that. I'm sure she probably wants a break."
