'Riverdale' Season 2 Cast News, Air Date: Betty's Brother To Be Introduced in New Installment

Fans are going to meet another Cooper family member when the new season of "Riverdale" rolls around.

According to TVLine, Betty's brother Chic will be introduced sometime during the midseason. It was revealed in the season 1 finale that Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) had given birth to a son when she was only in high school. She opted not to keep the baby and gave it up for adoption.

"Riverdale" is reportedly looking for an actor to play the role of Chic, but fans will not get to see him until halfway through the upcoming season. It remains to be seen how Chic will figure into the story, but his arrival in town will surely cause some problems to surface.

Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty, previously teased that her character will be "in the center of the mystery" in the new season. This spoiler was backed up by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also previewed a different kind of mystery ahead.

"I can't say too much because there's a couple of big twists, but Betty is absolutely at the heart of the darkest story we're telling this season," he said.

But Betty is not the only one who will face some issues in the upcoming second season. Archie (K.J. Apa) will also be struggling. His father, Fred (Luke Perry), was shot in the season 1 finale and his condition remains unknown. Archie's desperation can be seen and heard in the latest trailer The CW released.

"Mom, we're in trouble here," Archie says on the phone.

Meanwhile, Veronica (Camila Mendes) will have some visitors coming into town. The first one is none other than her own father, Hiram (Mark Consuelos), while the second is her ex-boyfriend, Nick St. Claire (Graham Phillips). Both men will undoubtedly stir up some trouble for Veronica, especially when it comes to her romantic relationship with Archie.

"Riverdale" season 2 will premiere on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
