Road Rage Orlando: Man Shot Dead With Semi-Automatic Weapon (VIDEO)
A road rage incident in Orlando has seen a man killed at the weekend. The victim reportedly had called 911 reporting that he was being chased by another driver who had a gun.
The victim in the Orlando road rage incident has been identified as 47-year-old Fred William Turner Jr. He was shot dead in the horrific attack on Saturday afternoon, and by Sunday police still had not managed to apprehend the killer.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's office has reported that Turner made a call to 911 at about 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, after allegedly getting into a confrontation at the intersection of North 50th Street and East Columbus Drive, which is approximately five miles west of I-4 in Tampa.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said, "While on the phone, the caller stated that the vehicle following him had earlier pulled up next to his vehicle and someone displayed what appeared to be a semiautomatic weapon to him."
He told 911 dispatchers that he was being pursued by the gunman as he got onto the I-4 heading towards Orlando. However, he insisted that he had done nothing wrong for the gunman to be chasing him.
Carter added, "At some point, for unknown reasons, the occupant, or occupants, of one vehicle fired multiple shots at the other vehicle."
Carter explained that the victim was still on the phone with 911 when he was shot. After the shooting he reportedly pulled over to the side of the I-4 and soon after died.
Authorities have said that they are now hunting a gray, newer model Ford Taurus with tinted windows that is believed to have been involved in the shooting.
Authorities have confirmed that they believe the case looks like road rage, but they are continuing their investigations and are speaking to a number of witnesses to confirm what happened.
Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee has said, "We're going to have to reconstruct that from the 911 tapes, but we know that we have the shooting apparently on the tape."
