Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry Reveal Deep Bond Amid Kristen Stewart Affair
Katy Perry has reportedly offered Robert Pattinson her support as the actor copes with the news that girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheated on him.
"She has reassured him she is very much there for him just as he was for her when she split from Russell," said an insider, according to the Daily Star. "She urged him to break up with her."
Co-stars in the hit "Twilight" films, Stewart and Pattinson were in a serious four-year relationship, and the British actor was rumored to have plans to propose to Stewart in the near future.
However, now Pattinson, 26, has instead moved out of the Los Angeles home he shared with Stewart following her public apology for having an affair with director Rupert Sanders. Sanders, 38, directed Stewart's latest film, "Snow White and the Hunstman." His wife, Justice Ross, was Stewart's co-star in the film, playing her mother.
At the same time, Pattinson has not commented on his current relationship with Stewart. The actor is reportedly taking time away from the actress.
"He's hoping to get two months to himself without Kristen around just to think things through," the source added, according to Daily Star. "She has sent him messages asking him to hook up in New York for crisis talks next week but he wants to be alone."
Pattinson is "angry, hurt and upset and is sick and tired of people taking sides already," according to the insider, who noted that Perry "has been a rock" for the actor.
Perry herself endured a difficult split from husband Russell Brand in December. Their divorce was finalized earlier this month.
The singer, 28, has been friends with Pattinson for a while and they share a mutual friend, actress Shannon Woodward, for whom they planned a birthday party for together last year, according to People magazine.
Meanwhile, in an attempt to save her relationship, Stewart, 22, released a statement last week: "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect most, Rob."
"I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry," the actress concluded.
Following Stewart's lead, Sanders also issued a public apology to his wife and family. The director shares two children with his wife.
"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," Sanders said in his own statement. "My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."
