Robert Pattinson as Han Solo? 'Twilight' Star Could Take on 'Star Wars' Character

Robert Pattinson is reportedly being considered to star in a new film based on the "Star Wars" character Han Solo.

Last week reports claimed the British actor, 28, was in the running to play Indiana Jones in a new series of Disney adventure films however insiders claim this is false. Pattinson, who is best known for his role as Edward Cullen in "Twilight," could play the famous "Star Wars" character in a new movie.

"Everyone has been talking about the possibility that Rob will be the new Indiana Jones, but that is not going to happen," a source told Hollywood Life.

"What has been talked about is a standalone Han Solo film, younger Han Solo before everything that happened in Star Wars and the person who is on the high list to get the part is Robert Pattinson," the insider explained.

Fans took to social networking site Twitter to weigh in on the rumored casting and many expressed delight.

"Robert Pattinson in Star Wars? OMG tell me this is true, cannot wait! #hansolo," one seemingly pleased Twitter user wrote.

"I think Han Solo makes more sense than Indiana Jones #teamrob," another tweeted.

"Rob Pattinson to play Han Solo in Star Wars movie, this should b good," another fan wrote.

Pattinson rose to worldwide stardom in 2008 following his breakout role in the film adaptations of the "Twilight" novels. He has since starred in various films including "Water For Elephants" and more recently "The Rover."

While the actor is said to be passionate about his craft, he once complained about the pressures of fame.

"Fame is a fight to survive! Some people can't take it and freak out, but I can understand that," he told GQ Italy.

"With paps hiding everywhere, it's really difficult to meet new people and have new experiences," he explained.
