Robin Roberts Back at Good Morning America; Prepares for Transplant in September
Robin Roberts is back at Good Morning America following her sudden departure from the show a few weeks ago. She returned to her co-anchoring role on Monday, and has declared that her health is much better now.
However, despite her recovery Roberts will again have to take further medical leave some time in the coming weeks to have a bone-marrow transplant from her sister. Doctors are hoping that the bone marrow transplant can help her battle MDS, a blood and bone-marrow disorder she was diagnosed with in June.
Roberts has confessed that she was run down a few weeks back when she was forced to take a break. She explained on Monday's show, "My needle was past 'E' when I left here a couple of weeks ago, but I've got a full tank, so watch out."

She added, "I haven't taken this much time off in quite some time."
During her time off Roberts went to Mississippi to see family, as well as visiting Italy for a friend's 50th birthday. She did also go to California to help fundraise for a cancer research charity.
The Good Morning America co-anchor was also able to gain special access to the Vatican during her stay in Rome. She explained that she stopped for a prayer at the altar which Pope Benedict uses prior to famously going out onto the balcony to address Catholic pilgrims.
"I was saying a special prayer for all those who have lifted me up in prayer," she said.
There are plans for Roberts to have the transplant in September, which is why doctors advised her to take a good rest and gain her strength prior to that. She has returned from her rest saying, "I feel alive again and really ready to tackle this next challenge."
