Rocket League Basketball Mode Hoops plus NBA DLC Arrives next Week
"Rocket League" developer Psyonix finally announces the release date of the soccer/football-meets-cars game's newest mode. Called Hoops, the new "Rocket League" mode provides a twist to the popular ball game.
"Your excitement for Rocket League Hoops has been infectious," Psyonix said in a post at the game's official site. "As your anticipation has continued to rise over these last several weeks, so too has our eagerness to bring it to you. Luckily, we finally get to do so next week."
Hoops finally bounces its way to the hard court on April 26 as a free update. It will be available across all platforms, that is PS4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam). This is in line with the developer's vision to keep the game equal for all community members. The developer even plans on making cross-platform play between the PS4 and Xbox One a reality in the future.
The new mode will be accompanied by a new arena called the Dunk House. The court does away with the rectangular goalpost and replaces it with a giant hoop and backboard where players master aerial maneuvers to land some dunk shots. And for the hardcore basketball fans out there, Pysonix has revealed that, yes, the floor squeaks.
In addition, for players who want to flaunt their favorite basketball teams, Psyonix is also offering a premium DLC called the NBA Flag Pack. The optional content will give players access to all 30 in-game flags which feature NBA teams' logos. The NBA Flag Pack costs $1.99, but those who'd rather not spend a dime will still get a free NBA logo flag.
The upcoming "Rocket League" basketball mode Hoops isn't the first time Psyonix has turned its attention to give a popular sports some car-soccer/football treatment. Last year during the holidays, the developer rolled out a free update featuring its version of ice hockey.
