'Rocket League' DLC Update: Game Update Brings in Hot Wheels to Soccer Arena

This month, the vehicular soccer video game "Rocket League" is going to get an update that will bring in actual Hot Wheels cars to the roster.

The game's developer and publisher, Psyonix, will expand the roster of rocket-powered cars available in the title by adding two Hot Wheels models as downloadable content. Psyonix promised that they have "transformed two of the most legendary models into Battle-Cars," the Twin Mill III and Bone Shaker, which will soon get a retouch from Psyonix and infused with rocket power to fit into the field.

The Twin Mill III and Bone Shaker will be up for download on Tuesday, Feb. 21. However, they come at a price of $1.99 with exclusive wheels and six decals. They will also be playable for the Beckwith Park arena while follow-up updates will make them ready for every other arena in "Rocket League."

On the other hand, for those gamers who do not want to spend two dollars, Psyonix has also made a way for them to get a chance to play "Rocket League" with Hot Wheels. "As an added bonus, ALL players -- even those who don't purchase the Hot Wheels DLC -- can find a FREE Hot Wheels Antenna and Topper, 'Treasure Hunt' flag, and 'Shark Bite' Topper as random post-match drops in the forthcoming update. Look for it all in just a few weeks," Psyonix announced.

"Rocket League" was first released on PlayStation 4 in July 2015 and was later on introduced on Xbox One in February 2016. The title gained popularity for having game mechanics that are the same with soccer, but instead of playing with simulated footballers, players will have to make use of rocket-powered cars.

Earlier this month, Psyonix has also ventured into expanding the "Rocket League" franchise by releasing real toys in collaboration with Zag Toys. Twelve rocket-powered cars from the game will come to life, including Octane, Dominus, Masamune, Hotshot, Grog, X-Devil, Merc, and Backfire. They will hit the shelves sometime in the spring across North America.
