'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Rumor: Darth Vader to Appear in Star Wars Spin-Off?
The rebels in the upcoming "Star Wars" anthology will possibly have to deal with Darth Vader. Yes, the Dark Force is alive and kicking in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," according to a report.
The rumor started with MakingStarWars.net. The publication stated in a report it published on Thursday that it has received word that "The Darth Vader Dream Team" has been assembled for the movie. Helmet sculptor Brian Muir and his team have reportedly recreated Darth Vader's costume from "Star Wars: A New Hope." The recreation is said to be "so close to the original."
The publication states further that although Darth Vader will be played by a new actor, the same voice actor will give life to the character on screen. Veteran voice actor James Earl Jones will be lending his voice to the Sith Lord in "Rogue One." The publication, however, has no information if he has already recorded his lines or will do so in the post-production phase.
This "Rogue One" Darth Vader rumor certainly boosts previous reports saying Darth Vader will make an appearance in the movie. He may show up in a "few scenes and something to fear for the heroes," the site goes on to say.
Although unconfirmed, the rumor certainly fits into the plot and setting of the movie, which takes place before the events of "A New Hope." In "Rogue One," a group of rebels make a plan to steal the blueprint of the Death Star, while in "A New Hope," Darth Vader can be seen chasing after the stolen plans.
Previously, rumor of a young Han Solo making a cameo in the film also came up. The actor who will play the role, however, hasn't been cast.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will hit theaters on Dec. 16. The movie is the first entry in a series of "Star Wars" anthology flicks. It is directed by Gareth Edwards, and confirmed actors starring in the film include Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, Donnie Yen, Ben Mendelsohn, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk.
