Ronda Rousey News: Nutritionist Disputes Claims That 'Rowdy' Was 'Not In Good Shape' During Holly Holm Fight

Mixed martial arts nutritionist Mike Dolce disputed previous claims that former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was not in good shape during her fight against Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 15th.

Days after the fight, veteran referee Herb Dean spoke to FOX Sports, where he pointed out how Rousey may have been in poorer shape for this particular fight, compared to her usual ones in the past.

"I think I might have seen her in better physical shape," Dean stated. "That's something I noticed. The people are looking for answers but it's not always on one side." He added that this wasn't like track where a person can compare their current time to their best recorded time and see if there's improvement or if something needs to be corrected.

Recently, nutritionist Mike Dolce responded to some of the said claims, during a recent interview with Submission Radio. He has been working with Rousey since 2013, during the women's bantamweight title fight against Miesha Tate at UFC 168.

He has also worked with a number of other top fighters, such as former welterweight champion Johny Hendricks, and two-division champion BJ Penn, among others.

"Ronda was in excellent shape," Dolce said. According to him, Rousey went through an "amazing" training camp. He also said that not much had been changed about her meal plans. In fact, he says, "She was actually two pounds lighter this fight week than she was the fight week vs Bethe Correia."

Dolce also pointed out that while many people are looking at what went wrong from Rousey's end, not much people have given credit to how Holm got the job done. He thinks Holm performed very, very well and says that her experience in the ring proved to be an asset on fight night.

"So this is what people are trying to hang their hat on, but nobody's really talking about the great job that Holly did," he continued. "Holly was 47-3 going into this fight with Ronda Rousey. She had four times the combat experience that Ronda Rousey had going into this fight. Nobody actually talked about that."
