'Rookie Blue' Season 5 Spoilers: New Cast Member Added, Secrets Revealed by Star of Show
The "Rookie Blue" cast is expanding with the addition of Erin Karpluk, who previously starred on "Being Erica." She has been hired for the upcoming season and will make her debut in the second half of the season.
"'Being Erica' was a great show, created by one of my dear friends [Jana Sinyor]," "Rookie Blue" executive producer Tassie Cameron told TVLine. "I've always been looking for a chance to get [Karpluk] on our show, and we finally did. So that's very exciting."
The Huffington Post got an inside peek at the upcoming season and actually visited the cast on the set of "Rookie Blue." In particular, the organization spoke with actor Peter Mooney while he filmed an upcoming episode entitled "Moving Day."
"This is something that is going on in the community I live in right now," Mooney said. "They are demolishing a bunch of public housing buildings and the police are there to make sure the last people have moved out. As you can imagine, the stories of the last people are more complicated than the people that were ready to go on the deadline. It's never easy."
He also revealed that his character will be dealing with personal and professional issues in the new season.
"This season, there's a lot more cop stuff than personal for Nick. As the season goes on, there will be some big reveals about his past and personal life and where he comes from. There's still a lot of procedural stuff, including the revisiting of an old tradition at the station, which is a fun episode," Mooney teased.
Of course, there is the awkward love triangle and situation between Nick, Andy, and Sam. It's all up to Andy as she chooses between two men who care for her deeply. The new season will explore that dynamic more and hopefully bring some sense of closure to fans of the series.
"Rookie Blue" airs on ABC.
