Rory Nelson is Bear Food: Convicted Canadian Murderer Partially Eaten by Animal
Rory Nelson, bear victim, was partially eaten after escaping from a Canadian halfway house May 23. Rory Nelson Wagner was a convicted murderer, charged with his crime in 1994, and was given a life sentence.
Rory Nelson Wagner was believed to be dead by the time the bear found him in his car in British Columbia, according to Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The marks around the 1986 Volkswagen Jetta gave the authorities clues as to what happened.
"The driver's window of the vehicle was down and investigators noted numerous muddy animal prints and scratches on the car," police stated.

About "120 meters from the vehicle" they found the 53-year-old's body- or at least what was left of him. The criminal had been partially chewed up by the bear, and the rest of him dragged into the bushes in the surrounding area.
"The bear approached this vehicle and actually physically removed the person from inside the vehicle," conservation officer Darcy MacPhee told CTV.
Despite the damage the bear did to Nelson, police believe he was already dead when the animal found him. In the Jetta was drug paraphernalia and alcohol. Police have not ruled Nelson's death a suicide, however, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Because the bear approached the decomposing body without fear, dragged out the criminal's body, and was comfortable partially eating him, MacPhee speculated that the animal could be dangerous to society. The bear has since been caught.
Conservation officers plan to euthanize the bear to ensure it does not harm any living human beings. The decision was not taken lightly, MacPhee told CTV.
Rory Nelson Wagner, along with two others, was convicted of murder in 1994 for his 1993 killing of a man he believed had sexually assaulted a family member. Wagner's victim had been acquitted of sexual assault charges. Wagner was on parole.
