Russell Brand's Father Compares the Funny Man to Jesus
Funny man Russell Brand’s father said his son has more in common with Jesus than a shaggy beard and curly locks.
Ron Brand, 67, believes that both his son and the Son of God are “both true individuals, misunderstood by the world.”
Russell, 36, is known for his antics in hit movies such as “Get Him to The Greek” and the remake of “Arthur,” as well as being married to pop superstar Katy Perry.
However, it has been documented that he has had a turbulent relationship with his father in the past, and that the two have not spoken for years until they recently reconciled.
Ron voiced his support for his son.
“Russell is truly an individual. He does not comply to rules of society. I am proud of him,” said Ron.
When asked about the comic’s over-the-top public displays and sometimes-raunchy bits, his father proudly said: “Kids have always had to comply. There are few that can sustain it and say, ‘No, I am going to be who I am.’”
Well, Russell certainly does things his way and it seems to be working for him. His fans will just have to wait and see if he starts walking on water. His father is so proud of the English funnyman that he went to biblical times to draw up comparisons.
“It’s difficult to be different and it goes back 2,000 years. It goes back to the times of Jesus. He was an individual. It takes immense strength to be able to sustain your belief,” Ron added.
His father was able to really share some of life’s knowledge and how he encouraged his son to not hold back and reach for the stars-literally.
“I never ask Russell to build a safety net. You have one, life. I always tell him to go for it, I tell him ‘You either go to the top of the mountain or you die at the side,’” Ron explained.
