Russell Crowe UFO Tweet Makes Waves
Russell Crowe has become the subject of ridicule after suggesting the presence of a UFO via Twitter on Wednesday.
The "Les Miserables" star posted several time lapse pictures from the Sydney Botanical gardens in the form of a video on YouTube.
"UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside RC's Woolloomooloo Office (THESE ARE REAL!)," wrote the actor via Twitter on Wednesday.
In the 23-second video, a red streak of light is scene above trees. Watch it on YouTube here.
"A friend and I set camera to capture fruit bats rising from Botanic Gardens, this was a big surprise," Crowe added to Twitter.
After the post, many of Crowe's followers expressed doubts about the alleged UFO sighting. The actor immediately defended the video.
"Canon 5D, No Flash, can't be a lense flare because it moves, camera is fixed," wrote the 48-year-old Academy Award winner.
"I will grant you at the time the music wasn't playing, also, yes we have pushed in on the frame.. this is 3 photos in order, nothing added," Crowe noted.
In addition to the skepticism of Crowe's video, many Twitter users questioned the actor.
"Russell Crowe is getting secretly wavey," posted Charles.
"Did you know Russell Crowe lives in a town called Woolloomooloo," posted Esquire magazine. "Did you know he believes in UFOs?"
The New York Observer posted the headline, "Russell Crowe Thinks He Saw a UFO, Uploads Video to YouTube Like Every Other Wacko."
Furthermore, on YouTube, hundreds of comments have accumulated about the video.
Crowe is no stranger to social media sites, and the actor has over 800,000 followers on Twitter. The "Beautiful Mind" star often takes to the micro blogging site addressing rumors- including the most recent gossip surrounding he and "Les Mis" co-star Samantha Barks.
Alleged to be dating Barks, Crowe posted, "@Samanthabarks apparently we are an item according to Aussie magazines. Sorry about that Sammi."
The actress replied, "Rumours are hilarious and not true! #funnyoldworld : )"
