Ryan Gosling Hoax Fools Nearly 1 Million Fans on Father's Day
A Ryan Gosling hoax fooled many of the actor's fans for Father's Day. A hacker tapped into Gosling's unofficial fan page Saturday and posted a fabricated story about him briefly becoming the legal guardian of a 9-month-old infant who lost his mother to cancer.
The Gosling hoax began in an unofficial fan page for the actor that boasted almost one million members. The hacker used a picture of the actor holding a small child as the preface for their heartfelt story about him being a father, albeit temporarily.
"This father's day, I've decided to tell the story of how I became a father," the message posted on Facebook began.
"This little guy was only 9 months old when I became his dad," it continued. "His mom and I were great friends before she passed away from cancer. I promised her, I'd always look after him. So, I had decided to step up and become his dad."
The message described how the baby changed his life and brought him "so much joy." However, it wasn't too long before the fictional baby had to go back to his rightful parent.
"1 year later after the adoption, his biological father wanted him. Of course, I put up a fight, but he won," the hacker wrote.
"That 1 year of being his father taught me how to love unconditionally. We have to stop and be thankful for our children and children should stop and be thankful for their parents. What I truly learned most of all is, every child needs love," "Gosling" concluded.
The post elicited a big response from the 33-year-old "Drive" actor's female fans, being shared over 50,000 times and gaining 930,000 likes in only a few days.
"Reason 90636 why you're the most perfect man on the planet!" one fan wrote.
"My ovaries just exploded," another said.
The bottom of the post links to "Young, Wild and Free" T-shirts that can be purchased for $22.50 to benefit the Orphanage Home Foundation. Unfortunately, that organization doesn't exist, according to Yahoo! so if any purchases are being made.
Gosling has not commented on the story.
