Ryan Gosling 'Only God Forgives' Poster Released

Ryan Gosling struck a chord with fans after appearing bloodied and beaten in the new poster for the film "Only God Forgives."

The dramatic advert for the upcoming Nicolas Winding Refn-directed film was released on Monday.

In the first look at his character, 32-year-old Gosling dons vest and tie paired with a bruised and blackened, swollen-shut eye. The black-and-white image only reveals the title of the film and the movie's director.

Many of Gosling's fans took to Twitter with their reaction to his beat-up face.

"Gonna pretend Ryan Gosling got this busted up face for defending my honor instead of movie makeup," wrote MTV.

Hannah posted, "I've always loved him, but I am newly obsessed with Ryan Gosling #love"

"I fancy Ryan Gosling a ridiculous amount, wrote Sophie. "That man can wear a suit."

"Ryan Gosling is God's gift to my eyeballs," added Rayven.

While the poster does not offer much information, is it known that "Only God Forgives" was filmed in Thailand. The story follows Gosling as a Thai-boxing gym owner and crime lord seeking vengeance for the death of his brother. The film will also see Kristin Scott Thomas and Tom Burke.

In preparation for the film, Gosling studied Muay Thai boxing, reported Yahoo Movies. The actor was reportedly spotted training hard in Los Angeles, Calif. with a pair of boxing gloves earlier this year.

"Only God Forgives" is not the first time Gosling has worked with Refn; the pair worked on "Drive" together.

The upcoming film "is the strangest thing I've ever read and it's only going to get stranger," Gosling once said, according to the Daily Mail.

The Canadian actor has had a quiet year in 2012, but will appear in both "Gangster Squad" and "The Place Beyond the Pines" next year.

Moreover, "Only God Forgives" is scheduled to open in theaters in Denmark in May 2013.
