Ryan Reynolds Posts Twitter Photo With NSFW Message for Mother's Day
Ryan Reynolds posted a photo commemorating Mother's Day, albeit with a tasteless message, as part of his ongoing promotion of his movie "Deadpool."
The Canadian actor posed in full "Deadpool" costume in a photo depicting him pulling out a baby from between the legs of a woman, which he posted on his Twitter account with an offensive message.
The photo formed part of an ongoing series of images Reynolds has been tweeting to promote his upcoming anti-hero movie. However, the image caption gave rise to protests from his social media fans and followers who took exception to his off-color Mother's Day greeting.
"#Deadpool: A motherf----- since 1991. #happymamasday," the 38-year-old actor tweeted, showing himself giving a thumbs-up while holding a naked infant which he appeared to have delivered from an expectant mother whose legs are spread out in front of him. Beside him, a midwife with a mask smiles approvingly.
The photo is the latest image Reynolds has been posting on his Twitter account since December last year, starting with Deadpool's head formed from empty shotgun shells to announce he would be reprising the mercenary role he originally played in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
He has also posted photos of his character, Wade Wilson's director's chair, a parody of popular eighties' actor Burt Reynolds' iconic pose in his "Deadpool" wardrobe on a bearskin rug in front of a fire, using the toilet in his costume, substituting an umbrella for a parachute, and even a photo of himself with co-star, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
"Deadpool," due out in theaters in February 12, 2016, will be Reynolds first solo movie portrayal of the wise-cracking anti-hero based on the Marvel Comics villain. The 20th Century Fox presentation also stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, Gina Carano, and T.J. Miller.
