'Sabrina the Teenage Witch' Reboot News: Melissa Joan Hart Comment on 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina'

Melissa Joan Hart, the star of the 1990s sitcom "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," shared her thoughts on the upcoming reboot featuring her former character. The CW earlier announced its plans of a revival on the small screen but the reboot will be called "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina."

The CW series will be a spinoff to "Riverdale," which is currently running it second season. Hart confirmed that her former show and the upcoming reboot will be widely different and as far as she knowns, no one from the old show will be involved in the new series. Hart incidentally reunited with the cast of "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" after 20 years at the Los Angeles Comic Con panel. They got around to discussing The CW reboot. "I think our show was about magic and family," Hart said. "The new one is going to be more about witchcraft, dark stuff. I think it sounds more 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' than it does 'Sabrina.'" As with "Riverdale," Archie Comics is collaborating with The CW for "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." Hart confirmed that the comic empire still owns the rights to the Archie properties, hence it can do what it wants for the characters. "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina," which Archie Comics released as a series since 2014, centers on Sabrina Spellman as a character from the 1960s who learns to use her dark powers. It's part of Archie Horror, a newly-created division in the comic's banner. The CW is already looking to cast the key roles of Sabrina, her boyfriend Harvey and another teen character, Rosalind. The network wants the show for its 2018-2019 TV season. Meanwhile, Hart's reunion with her former co-stars became a magical moment as some of the actors met for the very first time. "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" aired from 1996 to 2000 on ABC and moved to the defunct network The WB from 2000 to 2003.
