Sacramento Kings NBA Trade Rumors: Darren Collison to Be Traded?

While the basketball world is busy talking about high-profile trade baits like Carmelo Anthony and Brook Lopez, a few solid role players who are reportedly available have managed to slip under the radar. Darren Collison probably won't be making any headlines, but he is a key contributor for the Sacramento Kings and sources say he may be moved before the trade deadline next week.

Hoopshype says Collison is "available for the right price," so it will be interesting to see if a team can offer the Kings a deal that can convince them to part with their point guard. Pundits believe he is expendable since Ty Lawson can always start at point guard for the Kings. Last week, Basketball Insiders also reported that Collison may be on the move, but no deal has materialized so far.

Collison has been logging heavy minutes lately and he has played well while Lawson is sidelined with a mild left adductor strain. He has been efficient so far especially with his low turnover rate and high field goal percentage for a point guard. He has also been a good free throw shooter throughout his career.

Meanwhile, DeMarcus Cousins isn't going anywhere this season. There was talk about a potential trade sending Cousins to the Phoenix Suns for T.J. Warren, Alex Len and a future first-round draft pick earlier this month, but Kings general manager Vlade Divac has cleared the air by saying their franchise player was not available in trade talks.

Sources say the Kings are planning to offer Cousins a long-term deal in the offseason and they will give him the maximum amount allowed by the new collective bargaining agreement. Without a doubt, Cousins is one of the best players in the league, but he has never succeeded in leading his team to the playoffs.

Right now, it seems that Cousins may be the only player on the Kings roster not on the trading block.
