Salisbury Shooting: 1 University Student Injured, 2 Other Individuals Left Dead (VIDEO)
A Salisbury University student was left injured and two more individuals have been reported dead following a Maryland shooting.
In what appears to be a murder-suicide in the college neighborhood of Salisbury University, two people were shot dead Tuesday night. A third person, an unidentified female believed to be attending the school, was also injured. The alleged student was flown to the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a statement released by SU.
The incident occurred at around 7:45 pm on Onley Road, according to the local ABC station. Police believe a man pulled out a semi-automatic shotgun following a domestic dispute and killed his partner before turning the gun on himself. Both the man and his partner were pronounced dead with no other apparent suspects involved.
The University said in a statement that the third person injured was a student at the school. However, there appeared to be no threat to any other students on the campus following the shooting.
"Many of you have heard about this evening's shooting on Onley Road, near campus. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office has described this as a murder-suicide," Salisbury President Janet Dudley-Eshbach said in a message on the school website. "The alleged perpetrator no longer poses a threat to the campus or the greater community, as he is one of the deceased. Neither of the two individuals who died is believed to be a Salisbury University student.
The statement continued with information regarding the third victim: "I am, however, saddened to inform you that another victim is an SU student. She has been flown to the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. We extend our compassion and prayers to the victims' and student's families and friends."
An updated status on the injured victim has not yet been released. Police are still investigating the incident.
