Sally Struthers' Arrest Could Impair Relationship With ChildFund

Sally Struthers, famous for her role on "All in the Family," has been arrested for Operating Under the Influence (OUI). She was released on $160 bail and will be arraigned on Dec. 13 or 14.

"Sally is working and she is fine and she loves The Ogunquit Playhouse and her yearly time in Ogunquit. We deny these charges," her representative told Us Weekly after news of the arrest broke.

Struthers was reportedly driving in Maine while under the influence of alcohol. Police have not said what specifically led them to arrest Struthers, but if found guilty, she faces a $500 fine and 90-day license suspension. It's the first time she has faced the court on any charge.

Struthers makes an annual trip to Ogunquit, Maine since 2000 and regularly performs at the Playhouse. To date, she has starred in "Always, Patsy Cline" and "9 to 5: The Musical." It's unclear at this time whether her arrest will have any impact on her work with the Playhouse.

Her claim to fame is as the daughter of TV's famed Archie Bunker on "All in the Family." She made the character Gloria all her own and even starred in a short-lived spin-off series focused on Gloria. Since then, she has primarily done voice work on such cartoons as "The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show" and "TaleSpin."

One of the other things Struthers is famous for is her support of the Christian Children's Fund, which later changed its name to ChildFund. Struthers has done numerous promotions for the organization and never fails to mention it in speaking to reporters.

It "is inspired and driven by the potential that is inherent in all children; the potential not only to survive but to thrive, to become leaders who bring positive change for those around them," according to the Fund's website.

Struthers has become a face for the organization, which currently operates in 31 countries.
