Salma Hayek Earrings Cost $1 Million, Fans React
Actress Salma Hayek has reportedly debuted a pair of $1 million designer brand sapphire earrings over the weekend, shocking fans.
The "Here Comes The Boom" star attended the LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala on Saturday night in a navy gown with upswept hair. Her accessories included two pricey sapphire and micropave earrings set in platinum as well as a platinum and diamond bracelet, both by Harry Winston.
Online readers expressed surprise over the expensive jewelry items, while others criticized Hayek for boasting her wealth.
Randall wrote on Yahoo: "This can't be the same Salma Hayek who recently hosted a fund raiser for Obama and lashed out at the greedy rich people?"
"Who cares about the diamonds when you have Salma to look at," wrote Jersey Mike.
D'Lyla posted, "Wishhhh I had her wallet…" while Kaliza wrote, "Tell me what you can do with a million dollars instead of buying earrings."
Hayek, 46, is married to French billionare Francois-Henri Pinault. With whom she shares one daughter, five-year-old Valentina Paloma Pinault.
The Academy Award-winning actress recently admitted faults in herself, citing her Mexican background.
"I have an accent, am dyslexic, short and chubby," said the "Frida" star while speaking to Bazaar U.K. earlier this month.
"You name is, I have it, but I am here," she continued. "I must be the luckiest girl in the world to be working."
Since she got her acting break in 1988, Hayek has maintained a curvier figure despite Hollywood's standards.
"I am on the limit of chubbiness because I love my food and my wine," said the actress speaking to the publication. "It's not the best for fashion, but it's great for my mood. I am happy because I eat."
Hayek recently appeared in the comedy film "Here Comes The Boom" alongside Kevin James.
