Samsung A9 may have passed Geekbench, results revealed mid-range smartphone
One thing is certain about tech giant Samsung—they're not hitting the brakes anytime soon. One of the largest creators of smartphones is on to something and all rumors point to the Samsung Galaxy A9 amidst the Galaxy S7 rumors and leaks. It looks like the Korean-based company isn't working on a single smartphone only. According to Softpedia, an unidentified Samsung smartphone in the Geekbench database was found.
It was noted in the leaked benchmark test that the device will run on Qualcomm's unannounced mid-range Snapdragon 620 SoC, which all the more brings to conclusions that the handset could be the Galaxy A9. No confirmation has been made regarding the speculations but VR-Zone is certain that it couldn't possibly be the Galaxy S7 or a member of the J lineup. Other details revealed that the mysterious Samsung device has been listed as model "Samsung msm8976fhdlte-eur-open".
Along with the chipset under the hood is a 3GB of RAM and an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. The chip would also come with four Cortex A72 cores clocked at 1.8GHz while the other four cores form the octa-core setup at 1.2GHz A53 variety. As seen in the results, the smartphone scores 1,325 points in the single-core tests, while it gained 4,461 points in multi-core tests.
According to Geeky Gadgets, the said device in the database is not far from the existing Samsung Galaxy A8 which sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and 2GB of RAM. And even though details regarding the device is vastly sparse, speculations say that it will most probably come with a 5-inch Super AMOLED 2K resolution display featuring Gorilla Glass 4. It may also come with 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera just like its latest predecessor.
The Samsung Galaxy A series compose of upper middle-ranger devices with good quality. It won't come as a surprise if Samsung is on the works of adding a new model to the family by the end of 2015. Fans will have to stay tuned for developments of this unidentified device.
