Samsung Creates Ice Cream Sandwich Guide for Galaxy S2 Owners
Samsung recently released a short guidebook geared towards Galaxy S2 owners who have upgraded to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich overseas.
It is described by CrazyAboutAndroid as a PowerPoint presentation that gives Galaxy S2 owners a full rundown of the things GT-I9100 users should know before they upgrade. The link to the guidebook can be found on the site.
ICS upgrades began rolling out overseas this month. This guide should help users take full advantage of this software on their Galaxy S2 smartphones.
The update gives the device an improved user interface, adds face unlock, a faster web browser, better graphics performance, better battery life, better audio quality, better UI for switching and killing apps, stereo sound in videos, SNS integration into phonebook and a built-in data usage monitor.
"Ice Cream Sandwich improves the performance of the Galaxy S2 in some areas and promises better battery life so, it is kind of like you are getting a free hardware upgrade," YouMobile reported recently.
Samsung first announced last week that it would be releasing the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for the handset in various places throughout Europe. So far, there have not been any launch dates confirmed for the Galaxy S2 upgrades in the U.S.
Samsung also announced that other devices will receive the update as well in the near future including the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0, 8.9 and 10.1.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is rumored to be coming with the software pre-installed. Google is also in the process of creating a 7-inch tablet that runs ICS.
The Wi-Fi version of the Motorola Xoom has already received the ICS update in the U.S. The Galaxy S2 should receive it sometime before the summer. The Galaxy Nexus is currently the only smartphone in the U.S. to come with Android 4.0 pre-installed.
