Samsung Galaxy A8 Updated For Japan, New Chipset Added

Good news for those who are residing in Japan. South Korean tech giant Samsung has recently introduced an updated version of Samsung's Galaxy A8 in the land of the rising sun and it's designed to be better than the original device and with more horsepower.

According to Phone Arena, the newly introduced version of Galaxy A8 is not the 2016 model that everyone has been waiting for. Instead, it's a revision of the current device with some slight changes and new additions. The most noted change is the chipset used.

The original Galaxy A8 model housed either a Snapdragon 615 processor from Qualcomm or an in-house Exynos 5430 processor from Samsung. But with the updated version, those are no longer the processors used. GSM Arena reported that the updated Galaxy A8 now comes with Samsung's very own Exynos 5433 SoC, which is more powerful. And although the Exynos 5433 and Exynos 5430 SoC are almost close, the two have many differences.

Tech Times detailed that the Exynos 5433 functions on an ARMv8-A set, not an ARMv7. It also comes with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. It is also equipped with a Mali-T760 MP6 GPU running at 700 MHz.

When it comes to the other specs, the new Samsung Galaxy A8 model for Japan is almost the same as the original model. It still sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED full HD screen. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory which can be expanded further via a micro-SD slot of up to 128 GB.

It flaunts a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front snapper and runs with Android 5.1 operating system. Connectivity options include a dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v4.1, Cat.6 LTE and GPS with A-GPS. The updated version also has VoLTE and WiMAX 2+.

Colors available for the updated version include Pearl White, Midnight Black and Champagne Gold. According to Android Authority, the Japanese version of Samsung Galaxy A8 will be released before the year ends and will cost $623.
