Samsung Galaxy Active Neo Release Date, Specs News: Arrives in Japan, Sports 4.5-inch display, Dust and Water Resistant

Samsung has unveiled another smartphone again and the first ones to be able to experience it is Japan. According to Geeky Gadgets, Samsung launched a mid-range handset dubbed as the Galaxy Active Neo in Japan and it will be available through mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo. It's still uncertain if Samsung will sell it unlocked or if it will be available through other carriers in Japan in the future.

Phone Arena also reported that the Active Neo can either be deemed as an upgraded Galaxy Xcover 3 or a really downgraded Galaxy S6 Active. And since it is a budget phone, it sports a TFT LCD 4.5-inch display with only 480 x 800 pixels—not really an option for those who are looking for high-resolution screens. Nevertheless, even without stellar specs, it covers the minimum needs of the user throughout the day.

Underneath the hood is a Snapdragon 410 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz along with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. It also carries a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage but users can opt to expand up to 128GB via microSDXC card. It also comes with an 8MP primary camera and a 2MP selfie snapper. The Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and 4G LTE connectivity are also available. Giving it its life power is a 2,200mAh battery. This phone measures 133 x 70 x 10.1mm and weighs 154 grams. The device will run with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Carrying the 'Active' name, the device features a dust and water resistance up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes. GSM Arena detailed that it carries a MIL-STD-810G certification for salt and sea water, transport and thermal shock resistance, dust, vibration, rain and solar radiation. The handset will really be handy in rugged situations as it is reported to have the capability of withstanding two tons of load and will remain intact even after a drop on concrete from 1.5 meters.

Samsung Galaxy Active Neo will be available in Japan beginning early November and will be priced at around an off-contract price of $168.
