Samsung Galaxy Book vs iPad Pro Specs Review: Which High-End Tablet Is Better?

Samsung recently announced the Samsung Galaxy Book — its latest gadget offering that is set to compete with rival company Apple's iPad Pro tablet.

Samsung's newest high-powered tablet was introduced at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and since then, tech experts have tested the device and compared its performance with the iPad Pro. The verdict is in and according to reviews, though the two devices come from rival companies, they are actually intended for two different markets.

The Galaxy Book and the iPad Pro come in two different sizes: 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch models for the iPad Pro; and a 10.6-inch standard size screen and a 12-inch model for the Galaxy Book.

One of the more obvious differences between the iPad Pro and the Galaxy Book is that the former favors a portrait orientation while the latter puts more emphasis on landscape. Though both devices operate on both orientations, Samsung has made sure that their tablet appears to be a clearer substitute for laptops, intended to be the go-to device of professionals.

When it comes to performance, the iPad Pro runs on the A9X processing chip. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Book boasts of new internals with its 3.1 GHz Intel Kaby Lake Core i5 dual-core central processing unit (CPU) on the 12-inch model and the 2.6 GHz variant on the 10.6-inch model. Even more surprising is that Samsung's tablet doesn't run the Android operating system. Instead, the Galaxy Book runs Microsoft's Windows 10.

Both the iPad Pro and the Galaxy Book have good cameras. However, the Galaxy Book's 10.6-inch model lacks a rear camera. In terms of battery life, Samsung's tablet is slightly ahead because it offers fast charging, unlike the iPad Pro.

Even though Samsung has not released prices for the Galaxy Book models yet, it is expected that Samsung's high-end tablet will be slightly cheaper than Apple's iPad Pro. Moreover, the Galaxy Book, unlike the iPad Pro, already comes with a stylus and attachable keyboard.

In the end, the real point of choosing between the iPad Pro and the Galaxy Book is choosing between the iOS and Windows. If a consumer is looking for a device to use for entertainment and mainly as a tablet, the iPad Pro is the better option. However, if the main point of getting a tablet is for productivity and owning a portable device that is a suitable laptop substitute, the Galaxy Book is the way to go.
