Samsung Galaxy Camera Price Set for $549.99 On Verizon
The Samsung Galaxy Camera price will be $549.99 for Verizon users when the device is released on Dec. 13.
The carrier confirmed this news in a press release earlier today.
"The Galaxy Camera will be available for $549.99 and come in two colors, Cobalt Black, exclusive to Verizon Wireless, and White," wrote the carrier. "Innovative technology needs an innovative plan. Users will be able to add the Samsung Galaxy Camera to their Share Everything account for the promotional price of $5 per month."
The Galaxy Camera is a unique point-and-shoot camera that comes with a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD Screen. It also boasts a 21x optical zoom lens and a super-bright 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor for shooting high-quality images close up and in low light conditions. It is powered by a quad-core 1GHz processor and runs Android 4.1, JellyBean software with 4G connectivity on Verizon.
The Galaxy Camera can also send still images taken to other Samsung and Android devices instantaneously, including the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note from 200 feet away with the Share Shot feature.
AT&T also began carrying the Galaxy Camera earlier this year.
"Wirelessly enabling Samsung's Galaxy Camera will create a significant shift in how consumers share and communicate with photos and videos," said Chris Penrose, senior vice president of AT&T Emerging Devices.
"By posting instantly to social networking sites or sending directly to another device, the person behind the lens is essentially offering family and friends the opportunity to share in the moments as they are actually experiencing them," he continued. "We're excited that the AT&T wireless network will help enable these opportunities."
AT&T currently offers the Galaxy Camera for $499.99 with a new 2-year contract. However, its version does not run on the carrier's LTE network.
