Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Smartphones to Arrive in Time for Black Friday?

Samsung Electronics Slammed for Constantly Changing Release Dates

People clamoring to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system might not be able to take advantage of any Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals, according to reports saying that the release date will be well after the Thanksgiving holiday.

As reported by The Christian Post and other media outlets, U.K. customers will not be able to get a Samsung Galaxy Nexus until Dec. 2. In the U.S., web-only orders for the device will go live on Nov. 21.

When they will be available in stores has yet to be determined.

The sputtering release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus had been criticized by tech blogs that perceived Samsung was attempting to time the release of its new smartphone with the release of Apple's iPhone 5, even though the iPhone 5 was not even confirmed (and only the iPhone 4S came out). In the end, the Android and Me website said the constant change in release dates made Samsung look "sloppy."

However, one commenter on Reddit said the wait will be worth it.

"Would you rather have a buggy phone now that you will just turn around and complain about, or wait a few weeks until the kinks are sorted out and have a better phone?" the commenter wrote, adding: "Logically, I'd rather wait patiently and have a phone I'm going to love than to have a lack of patience satisfied and have a phone I'm not completely satisfied with."

The Galaxy Nexus, formally known as the Nexus Prime, was originally rumored to be the first smartphone to include a quad-core processor, but during its unveiling it was revealed the Galaxy Nexus will only have a dual-core.
