Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Sells 1 Million in Korea
Samsung has sold 1 million Galaxy Note 2 units at its home base of Korea.
The company reached the milestone recently, making the device one of its most successful of all time.
Samsung managed to sell 1 million units iof the Note 2 in Korea three times faster than it did with the original version.
Samsung also reported that it sold more than 5 million Note 2s worldwide two months after its original release date.
The device features a 5.5-inch HD display and Android 4.1.1, JellyBean.
Samsung released an earlier report that stated that it sold around 3 million Galaxy Note 2 units just one month after its launch.
Before the official launch of the Galaxy Note 2, J.K. Shin, the head of Samsung's Mobile Unit, predicted that the device would sell 20 million units after just one year. With this news of 5 million sold in just two months, the company is on pace to exceed that prediction and blow past the sales of the original model.
This will also put Samsung in a place where it could beat out Apple in the smartphone sales department.
Other companies have noticed Samsung's success with the smartphone-tablet hybrid and are deciding to follow in the companies footsteps.
LG is expected to unveil a Galaxy Note 2 competitor at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
This device will be a 5.5-inch phablet smartphone that is the same size as the wildly popular Samsung device.
There is a possibility that the phablet could be the rumored Optimus G2. This device is supposed to become LG's flagship smartphone for 2013 and will help the company steal some of the market share away from Samsung, who is currently the only player in town when it comes to devices like the Note 2.
