Upcoming Handset to Sport Iris Scanner and Dual-Curved Edges
With Samsung rumored to skip the Note 6, reports reveal that a better Note series release will be offered with the Galaxy Note 7 this coming August.
The upcoming handset, as per Sam Mobile, will begin with its initial production next month for an estimated 2.5 million units and double this number the month after. It also noted that the device could be launched on August 2, a month earlier than the usual release of the company's new gadgets.
Samsung fans should expect additional exciting features for the soon-to-be released phone. Below are some of the top things to look forward to in the Samsung Galaxy Note 7:
1. Dual-Curved edges
Sam Mobile noted that the phablet will be the first Note gadget which will have dual-curved edges. Samsung introduced the single-curved edge for the Galaxy Note Edge about two years ago.
These sleek edges will highlight the 5.8-inch screen of the Note 7 with a Quad HD resolution and a Super AMOLED display.
2. Samsung Focus app
Similar to a BlackBerry feature, the Samsung Focus is said to be a go-to hub for productivity apps like e-mail, memos, contacts and calendars. This is almost similar to the Blackberry Hub which aggregates together messaging applications.
3. Smart Glow
According to Pocket-lint, Samsung could add a new technology to the Note 7 called the Smart Glow. This uses a ring of light around the rear camera lens of the device which communicates to the user certain notifications.
One useful function of this technology is taking selfies using the rear camera of the phone. The same report explained that the light will tell the user if the face has already been detected and that a photo will already be taken.
Aside from this, the ring of light will also serve as a notification alert when the phone is placed face down.
4. Waterproof
Phone Arena claimed that the Galaxy Note 7 will be the first handset in the series which will not only be dust-resistant but also waterproof. It also indicated that the device will also come with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor and a 4000 mAh battery.
5. Iris scanner
In addition to the fingerprint scanner of the phone, NDTV Gadgets noted that the Note 7 will also sport an iris scanner. The added security feature will get the iris profile of the user to lock or unlock the device.
