Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet-Smartphone Review

CNET recently gave a short review on the Samsung Galaxy Note tablet and smartphone hybrid and what it found was that "the Samsung Galaxy Note for AT&T is no tablet."

With a 5.3-inch display, the size is something the tech publication feels will turn some people off from purchasing the new device.

"Not everyone's going to like the size; in fact, I suspect it'll be a niche group who does," wrote Sarah Tew of CNET. "And yes, some people who are casually considering a tablet might also decide that they'd be happy with a big-screen phone instead."

The S Pen stylus also gave Tew some issues while reviewing the device. She criticized it for its potential to have some problematic lag "and a less-than-faithful reproduction" of a user's pen strokes.

However, she did complement Samsung for its use of high-end components on the Galaxy Note.

"At any rate, the Galaxy Note doesn't skimp on high-end screen, processor, and camera specs, and the phone is 4G LTE ready," wrote Tew.

Customers will be able to get their hands on the Galaxy Note by delivery on Feb. 17. Pre-orders began on Feb. 5. It will officially land in stores on Feb. 19 and will be available in both carbon blue and ceramic white colors for $300 with a new two-year agreement.

"The Galaxy Note combines the best features of a smartphone with the larger viewing screen of a tablet and advanced technology in the S Pen – delivering an all-in-one device that allows users to work more efficiently and maintain productivity, while communicating in a unique, personal way," according to the press release.

The company goes on describe the device as the world's first 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED (1280x800) handset. The Samsung Galaxy Note features the largest touch-screen included on a smartphone in the market.
