Samsung Galaxy S Phones News: Only Curved Displays Starting S8? Here's What Samsung Said [DETAILS]
Samsung Galaxy S Phones May No Longer Be Flat in the Future
Starting from S8, Samsung Galaxy S phones may no longer be flat.
Samsung has hinted that they might delve deeper to curved displays. They are hoping to make curved smartphones the company's signature.
Samsung Galaxy S Phones - Only Curved Displays?
Samsung's current flagships, the Galaxy S7 lines, come in flat and curved displays. The curved-edge feature was first seen in the company's Galaxy S6 Edge. However, that may change for future Galaxy S phones and it may start with the S8.
Korea Herald reported that Samsung is looking to fortify their brand with curved display smartphones. However, an expert told the outlet that the company might not get rid of flat screen Galaxy S smartphones yet. They may want to see how much the Edge models are selling first.
"Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions (for the curved screen)," Samsung's Koh Dong-jin said in an interview in New York last week.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Sales Increasing
The likeliness of the Samsung Galaxy S8 line to only have curved displays increased when the demand for the Galaxy S7 Edge had outdone its flat-screen sibling. CNET noted that there was a high demand for the S7 Edge because it looks more unique than its other counterpart. Furthermore, Samsung has also released a Note 7 phablet with curved edges as well.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date, News, Update
Even though the Galaxy S7 is doing well in the market, fans and critics can't help but be excited for Samsung's 2017 flagship phone, which is expected to be the Galaxy S8 line. PC Advisor speculates the release date of the flagship based on how Samsung released its Galaxy S lines in the past.
It is estimated that the Galaxy S8 may be released somewhere in February to March 2017. Samsung's launching dates may be predictable because of the yearly Mobile World Congress and because of Samsung's Unpacked event every year. It is unknown whether Samsung will be pushing through for an all curved-display line for the Galaxy S8 series or not.
