Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date: S2 Skyrocket vs. HTC Vivid
AT&T is planning the release of its first two high-end 4G LTE smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and the HTC Vivid.
Both of these devices sport impressive specifications.
For display, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket has a 4.5-inch SuperAMOLED Plus screen. AMOLED displays are known to have some of the best resolution in the smartphone market. The HTC Vivid will match the Skyrocket in screen size also sporting a 4.5-inch display.
The Vivid employs a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 processor while the Skyrocket over powers HTC’s device including a 1.5GHz dual-core chip.
The internal RAM on the Vivid is at 1 GB and the Skyrocket will match it having the same amount. Both devices sport 8-megapixel rear-shooting cameras capable of filming in high definition.
They also both include front cameras with the Skyrocket’s version at 2-megapixels and the Vivid’s trailing behind with 1.3-megapixels.
The Vivid comes with 16 GB of internal memory with the ability to upgrade to 32GB using a microSD card and Skyrocket sports 16GB of memory with the same upgrading ability.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and HTC Vivid will run on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system and should eventually be able to upgrade to Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich software when it is released.
The original set price for the Skyrocket was $249.99 and the Vivid was at $199.99.
AT&T decided to cut the prices on both of these smartphones last week with the Skyrocket now going for $149.99 and the Vivid priced at $99.99.
