Samsung Galaxy S2 Sells 10M Units, Becomes Biggest Threat to Upcoming iPhone 5
Electronics giant Samsung has reached the milestone of selling 10 million Galaxy S2 units in just five months.
"In just five months the Galaxy S2 has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the Galaxy S2 as their device of choice have driven the device's strong market position globally," President and Head of Samsung's Mobile Communications Business JK Shin said.
The device has been globally popular since its debut in late April and has seen massive demand in the U.S. were it still in the process of being released.

The 10 million sale count currently does not include U.S. sales, which currently only comes from the Sprint network. The network released its version of the smartphone, the Epic 4G Touch, on September 16.
With its sales, among other impressive attributes, the Galaxy S2 has established itself as the number one competition against Apple's iPhone. However, the Android phone still has a far way to go before it can match iPhone sales, which reached 20 million handsets in the third quarter alone.
The Galaxy S2 however is the best selling Android phone and the best selling Samsung phone.
With the impending release and proposed unveil of the iPhone 5 on October 4 and the upcoming release of the Galaxy S2 on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, many are expecting the fierce competition to continue in the U.S.
While some polls put Samsung as number one among most desired phones, other surveys note that the majority of iPhone users continue to use Apple phones in the future.
The Galaxy S2 for T-Mobile is expected to debut sometime this week and the Galaxy S2 for AT&T is expected to debut on October 2.
