Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Confirmed for Release
The rugged Samsung Galaxy S4 Active should be released sometime in the near future.
The smartphone just hit the Bluetooth Special Interest Group for certification which confirms its existence and imminent launch.
Reports of this water-resistant model of the Samsung flagship began surfacing last month. Now it appears that Samsung has some kind of an idea of when it will it launch, according to The Wall Street Journal, with the publication announcing the projected release date for July. This new sighting in the Bluetooth SIG confirms the previous rumor.
The report also states that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S4 Mini around the same time. The company appears to be targeting those in the market with specific needs with the launch of some of these Galaxy S4 variants. Samsung is also expected to release the Galaxy S4 Zoom for camera lovers.
The Galaxy S4 Active is basically an answer to Sony's Xperia Z, which is also water- and dust-resistant while the Galaxy S4 Mini caters to those who don't like carrying around a large bulky smartphone. The Galaxy S4 Zoom is meant for photographers not looking to carry around two devices.
The Active is rumored to feature the same specs as the regular Galaxy S4; however, it will come with a water and dustproof body for those looking to brave the elements with their device.
The Zoom will feature a 16-megapixel camera along with some extremely impressive specifications, according to a report from SamMobile.
It will come with a 4.3-inch qHD SAMOLED display, 8GB of storage, microSD slot, Bluetooth 4.0, and will run Android 4.1, JellyBean. The device is also rumored to feature either a dual-core or quad-core processor, but the choice has not yet been made at this time, according to the report.
