Samsung Galaxy S4 Gold Editions to Launch Soon

Samsung Mobile Arabia announced two new Gold editions of the Galaxy S4 that will launch sometime in the near future.

However, they will not be made of the actual metal, but rather a plastic colored gold. They will also feature two different types of fronts including brown and pink versions.

The device is currently being advertised by Samsung's United Arab Emirates. There is a possibility that these new versions could launch in the states, but nothing has been announced concerning that happening at this time.

Samsung could have taken a cue from Apple, who recently released the new iPhone 5S in gold.

A Galaxy S4 running the new Android 4.3, JellyBean update was spotted in new pictures earlier this week.

The firmware version on the device is XXUBMA8 which is one that has not been seen before. These were the only details seen from the screenshots that surfaced.

The Android 4.3, JellyBean update will roll out to the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 sometime next month.

Android 4.3 comes pre-installed in the Nexus 7 successor that was unveiled at Google's media event earlier this year. The new software was demonstrated on the tablet.

The upgrade to Android brings new capabilities to the multi-user mode that is currently available on JellyBean-powered tablets. A new restricted profile feature lets tablet owners customize the kind of access other people have on certain devices. In this restricted mode, apps will be available to multiple profiles, but they will function differently. In-app purchases will not be available in restricted profiles so children will be prevented from making unwanted transactions.

The long rumored Bluetooth Smart feature is also available on Android 4.3. It allows a device to conduct more Bluetooth activity without draining too much power. Users could pair a variety of Bluetooth-enabled devices to the Android 4.3-powered one.
