Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs Lenovo P2 Specs Comparison: Lenovo's Battery Outshines Samsung's

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has been compared to many other smartphones in the past and has always come out on top when it comes to battery life. However, the Lenovo P2 may just give Samsung a run for its money.

First of all, it should be noted that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was released earlier than the Lenovo P2, making it the older one of the two smartphones. Both devices are currently available in the market.

The two smartphones both sport 5.5-inch super AMOLED displays, have fingerprint sensors and run on Android Marshmallow out of the box. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, however, can already be upgraded to the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.

For its hardware, the S7 Edge has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot, a 12-MP main camera and an IP68 water and dust proof certification.

On the other hand, the Lenovo P2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 under the hood, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot, a 13-MP main camera, but is not water or dust proof.

Despite the Lenovo P2 being the more budget-friendly of the two smartphones, though, a recent battery performance test conducted by TechRadar clearly revealed it to be the more superior device. It can be recalled that a previous test, without the Lenovo P2, revealed the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge as the battery champion.

It should also be taken into account, though, that the Lenovo P2 has a much larger battery than the S7 Edge. Samsung's offering already has an impressive 3,600 mAh battery, but the Lenovo P2 has a whopping 5,100 mAh behemoth.

The test involved both devices to be turned on full brightness and connected to the same Wi-Fi. Four stages were adopted for the test: web browsing, watching videos on YouTube, playing the same mobile game and a video from the smartphone's storage. By the end of the experiment, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge lasted five hours and 32 minutes before it died, while the Lenovo P2 was one minute away from lasting a full 11 hours.

Consumers definitely consider battery life when shopping for smartphones these days, and the Lenovo P2 may just be the most powerful one out there.
